Head of Hussein

Head of Hussein (Ra's al-Hussein) is a comprehensive English maqtal devoted to the journey, stand, martyrdom and aftermath of Imam al-Hussein ibn Ali (a), the grandson of the Messenger of Allah (s) and the Chief of Martyrs. The narrative draws upon early maqtal literature, major historical compilations and later scholarly works that preserved the memory of Ashura across generations. It follows the events from Medinah to Mecca, from the letters of Kufa to the mission of Muslim ibn Aqil, from the journey toward Iraq to the plains of Karbala, and from the night before Ashura to the martyrdom of the Imam (a), his family and his loyal companions. 547 pages, first edition, June 2026.
